- Adam Gilchrist said it is difficult to perform consistently in top-class cricket
Legendary Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist said that one should not write off Virat Kohli by any stretch of the imagination. The left-hander lauded Kohli for setting high standards and said that he is good enough to return to form after a lean patch.
Kohli recently played on the tour of England where he failed to perform in any of the three formats. Thereafter, he was rested for the ODI and T20I series against West Indies. The right-handed batsman also pressed on to make appearances for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Gilchrist, one of the world’s greatest wicketkeepers, was also of the opinion that it is difficult to perform on a consistent basis while playing top level cricket.
“It is definitely a challenge to be consistent at the highest level. that centuries [Kohli] The games he has scored, the games he has won, especially in the chase, the standards he has set are so high. So it’s tough, but he’s a very dangerous player to write about,” Gilchrist was quoted as saying mid-day on the sidelines of an interaction with the budding city’s cricketers at the Mumbai Cricket Association’s Bandra-Kurla Complex indoor academy.
Meanwhile, the southpaw admitted that defeating Australia at home in the upcoming edition of the T20 World Cup later this year will not be easy. In addition, Gilchrist picked India, Australia, England and Pakistan to qualify for the semi-finals of the multi-nation tournament.
‘Difficult domestic conditions for Australia’ [to beat], Although I can’t pick a winner, I am sure India will be in the top four along with Australia, England and Pakistan.”
