After the arrest of now-suspended senior party leader Partha Chatterjee in the multi-crore school jobs scam, TMC may reshuffle the state cabinet along with a major organizational change.
Sources said the reshuffle will also aim to change the image of the party affected by the probe into the scam in school jobs. Chatterjee, the former virtual number two in both the TMC and the government, was stripped of all ministerial responsibilities and suspended from the party last week following his arrest and recovery of around Rs 50 crore from the flats of his aide Arpita Mukherjee.
Chief Minister and TMC supremo on Thursday Mamata Banerjee It was indicated that there would be a cabinet reshuffle soon. Partha da has been relieved of his ministerial post. For the time being, I will keep his ministries till there is a cabinet reshuffle,” Banerjee had said.
According to senior TMC leaders aware of the developments, cabinet changes were being planned for a long time, but Chatterjee’s arrest hastened the process. “The idea is based on the Kamaraj plan of 1960 when several top Congress ministers resigned to work for the party.
