Maharashtra Leadership Award 2022: Renowned industrialist, Dr. Haramb Shelke was recently conferred with Maharashtra Leadership Award 2022 by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari.
Shelke was awarded for his contribution to the environment and climate change. Governor Koshyari appreciated Shelke’s initiative and asked him to continue his work. Keeping in mind the increasing use of electric vehicles in countries around the world, Shelke is working to make EVs more affordable for the masses.
Talking about the Maharashtra Leadership Award he received, Dr. Haramb Shelke expressed his gratitude for the appreciation.
“I understand my responsibilities as a responsible citizen and businessman of India and am always eager to give the best which benefits everyone and my country,” he said.
Underlining the need to address the issue of global warming, he said that India needs someone like Elon Musk to transform India’s transportation system.
“Just as events like floods, droughts, landslides or earthquakes are increasing worldwide, glaciers are melting, so if we still do not focus on reducing carbon emissions, then none of them will happen in the coming times. The way Elon Musk took the ambitious step of building Tesla, we will have to try in India as well.”
Shelke is the owner of Pune-based VTRO Motors Pvt Ltd, an electric vehicle (bike) manufacturing startup.
Sanjay Ghorawat, Founder-Chairman of the Sanjay Ghorawat Group, was also honored with the award for his contribution in the field of education and industry.
