Farhan Akhtar wrote Dil Chahta Hai 21 years old, Saif Ali Khan-Aamir Khan did a mini reunion

Dil Chahta Hai, one of the cult classics of Bollywood that inspired every youth to plan at least one trip to Goa with friends, turned 21 on Wednesday. The film starred Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Akshaye Khanna in lead roles, with Preity Zinta, Dimple Kapadia and Sonali Kulkarni in pivotal roles. Farhan Akhtar also made his directorial debut with this film. On the film’s 21st anniversary, the filmmaker took to Instagram to thank fans.

Sharing the montage from the film, Farhan wrote, “The film that started it all turns 21 today. Thank you to the cast and crew who believed in this. Thanks to the viewers who continue to love it so much. You have got a lot more than I wanted to win my heart. Love you all.”

Stars and fans took to the comments section to shower the film with love. Ishaan Khatter said, “The film that feels like a best friend.” “It’s not a movie, it’s a revolution,” said one fan. “Just today we visited Chapora Fort in Goa and played the title track! I didn’t know it happened on the anniversary of the film,” a fan informed the director, referring to the iconic fort scene featured in the film’s title track. “This film changed my life and that of Goa. Thank you,” added a fourth fan.

Incidentally, Aamir and Saif met again on the anniversary day of the film in Mumbai. Both the actors were seen attending the premiere of Aamir’s Laal Singh Chaddha in the city. The film also stars Saif’s wife, actress Kareena Kapoor. The trio posed for pictures before leaving for the screening.
