earlier this week, Wire CEO Pavel Durov Wrote a post on his Telegram channel criticizing Apple’s app review update process. Durov said that without any explanation Apple The recent update of the app was stopped. “For example, our upcoming update – which is supposed to revolutionize the way people express themselves in messaging – has been stuck in Apple’s ‘Review’ for two weeks, without explanation or any feedback provided by Apple. ”
A report in The Verge said that Durov, in his recent post, explained why Apple kept the update for two weeks. “Apple got back to us with a demand to reduce our pending Telegram update by removing telemogic – High quality vector-animated versions of standard emoji. Durov went on to say that he found the move “shocking on Apple’s part, as Telemoji would bring a whole new dimension to their stable low-resolution emoji and significantly enrich their ecosystem.”
Apple has now approved the latest Telegram update. However, the latest version does not include the animated emoji pack. It is unclear why Telegram dropped the emoji pack as Durov did not provide an explanation. Apple has not yet commented on the matter.
However, Durov said that Telegram would be motivated to make Telemoji more distinctive and recognizable. The emojis in question are for premium Telegram users. Telegram has rolled out many new features for its users with the recent update.
Durov was critical of Apple in his earlier post. “If Telegram, one of the top 10 most popular apps globally, is getting this treatment, one can only imagine the difficulties experienced by smaller app developers. It is not just demoralizing. IS: it causes direct financial damage to millions of mobile apps globally.” He further added that “the economic damage done by Apple to the tech industry will not be undone”.
