Delhi LG inaugurates 15 smart MCD schools, presents regularization letters to 187 Safai Karamcharis – Times of India

New Delhi: Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena Inaugurated 15 model smart schools of the state on Saturday municipal Corporation of Delhi (Delhi Municipal Corporation) and also handed over regularization letters to 187 contract cleaning workers of the municipal body.
Saxena reiterated his commitment to ensure up-gradation of all primary schools run by the civic body by the end of the year.

Speaking on the occasion, Saxena said, “The launch of 15 Smart Schools is the beginning of a new chapter, which will unfold in full swing, with all the MCD schools being the best in their category.”
MCD’s smart schools have been provided with modern buildings, furniture and IT-enabled interactive learning pedagogy.
“These schools show how progressive and positive development is taking place in primary education… Computer education has become an integral part of education even at the primary level. We try to take this initiative to 1,000 more MCD schools by the end of it. year,” he said.
In another function at the MCD Headquarters, the Lieutenant Governor handed over regularization letters to 187 Safai Karamcharis engaged between 1998 and 2000. He also flagged off a ‘Tiranga Rally’ to celebrate. nectar festival of freedom To commemorate 75 years of India’s independence.
“It is a historic day as we are just two days away from completing 75 years of our independence. MCD had formulated a policy regarding regularization of Safai Karamcharis in 1978. It was decided that MCD would regularize the services of Safai Karamcharis in a phased manner.
Under the policy, temporary sanitation workers were regularized in 1978, 1982, 1988, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1999, 2000, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2016.
MCD has given jobs on compassionate grounds to 109 dependents of deceased municipal employees in the Engineering Department. He said that in the last 10 years, the civic body has given jobs to a total of 2,810 people on compassionate grounds.
