Tweeting about this latest initiative in terms of passenger amenities, the Airports Authority of India, or AAI, said: “Waiting at #AAI’s #Chennai @aaichnairport will no longer be tiring as passengers can stay comfortably in sleeping pods A new domestic arrivals facility ‘Sleepzo’, was launched at the airport with four bed sized capsules, best suited for short periods of rest.”
The new facility can be availed on hourly basis. Each sleeping pod is equipped with essential basic amenities like reading light, charging station, USB charger and luggage storage. Ambient lighting, blower controls for air-conditioning and comfortable bedding will ensure that a traveler has all the amenities he or she needs while traveling – without the need to actually head to a hotel.
Each capsule can accommodate one person and a child under 12 years of age.
“Often travelers spend so much time traveling and it is very important to take some rest wherever they can. The best option would be to move to a good hotel, which may not be possible due to both time constraints and finances. And if the passenger is particularly short on time, sleeping at the airport may be the best option,” said a press release from the Chennai airport.
