New Delhi: The Water Resources Department, Government of Punjab has sent an office memorandum to all the Chief Engineers, Executive Engineers and Superintending Engineers of the State Water Resources Department requesting them to close all bank accounts of HDFC Bank.
Principal Secretary Water Resources dated 22 August 2022 has issued an office memorandum. This copy has been sent to the Principal Secretary, Finance with the request to issue instructions to all the departments to close the accounts with HDFC Bank as it is clearly noted that whenever the department requires them, the Bank” never cooperates”. The memorandum of support has been sent to all the administrative secretaries.

The office memorandum read, “It has been brought to the notice by some of the Executive Engineers (Drainage-cum-District Mining Officers that HDFC Bank had issued certain bank guarantees to the mining contractors. These mining contractors have defaulted) to the State Government.” and when the Executive Engineer (Drainage-cum-District Mining Officer) approaches the bank for encashment of bank guarantees, HDFC Bank is not encashing these bank guarantees for one reason or the other.”
Accordingly, it has been decided that no bank account shall be maintained with HDFC Bank. Further, if the salary account of some employees has been opened with HDFC Bank, they may be persuaded and requested to close their accounts with HDFC Bank in the larger interest of the Department and request them to open their salary account. can be done.
