Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday laid the foundation stone for the country’s largest automobile company Maruti Suzuki’s projects in Gujarat and Haryana, as the Japanese automobile giant completes 40 years of its presence in India.
On the occasion, the Prime Minister lauded the success of Maruti Suzuki in India, describing it as a shining example of India-Japan partnership.
In Gujarat, the PM laid the foundation stone of Maruti Suzuki’s Electric Vehicle (EV) battery manufacturing plant in Hansalpur, where Suzuki Motors set up its first manufacturing unit outside Haryana in the country.
For Haryana, Shri Modi laid the foundation stone of the company’s vehicle manufacturing plant at Kharkhoda in Sonipat district.
“Will create direct employment”
The proposed manufacturing plants of Maruti Suzuki and Suzuki Motorcycle at the Industrial Model Township at Kharkhoda in Sonipat will attract an estimated investment of Rs 20,000 crore and generate about 13,000 direct jobs.
As per the details, spread over 800 acres, the proposed Maruti Suzuki plant will be the company’s largest single manufacturing site in the country, involving a total investment of around Rs 18,000 crore.
Additionally, the Suzuki Motorcycles project will be spread over 100 acres and will involve an investment of around Rs 1,500 crore. This will create around 2,000 direct jobs.
“In the last eight years, India-Japan relations have achieved new heights. Today from bullet train in Gujarat-Maharashtra to Rudraksh Kendra in Banaras in Uttar Pradesh, many development projects are examples of Indo-Japan friendship,” said PM Modi while addressing the gathering to mark 40 years of Maruti Suzuki in India .
On the proposed new plant in Gujarat, the Prime Minister said that he is happy for Maruti Suzuki to set up an EV battery manufacturing plant in Hansalpur, Gujarat, where he first visited in 2011-12 at the invitation of Mr. Modi.
He added that Suzuki has continued to expand in Gujarat by investing more in the state. PM Modi recalled Gujarat’s promise to Suzuki 13 years ago when he was the chief minister and invited Suzuki to set up its manufacturing factory.
The PM said that Gujarat kept its promise and Suzuki made its deliveries in the same way.
He also said that the automobile company is setting up a battery factory to develop electric vehicles for the country.
“Silent Revolution”
“One of the great features of electric vehicles is that they are silent. Be it two wheelers or four wheelers they do not make any noise. This silence is not just about its engineering, but it is also the beginning of a silent revolution that is EV Vehicles are being brought to India,” Mr Modi said.
According to him, Maruti Suzuki is now working towards bio-fuel, ethanol blending and hybrid electric vehicles.
“I would like to suggest that Maruti Suzuki should also start working towards manufacturing products related to compressed biomethane gas,” the PM suggested in his speech after the video address by Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida , who had a video message for Sunday. Competition.
“We attribute the success of Maruti Suzuki to the support of the people and the Government of India. Indian economic growth has further accelerated recently due to various support measures for the manufacturing sector guided by the strong leadership of Prime Minister Modi,” Mr. Kishida said in his message.

On this occasion, 92-year-old Osamu Suzuki, senior advisor to Suzuki Motor Corporation, was also present on the stage, where PM Modi held his hand and jointly shook hands at the meetings.
