Stelantis’ new Make in India software and technology center to benefit Jeep, Citroen cars – Times of India

Jeep And Citroenparent company of stellantis has inaugurated a new software center in Bengaluru, Karnataka which will focus on development of software and technological innovations for the advancement of automobiles and mobility. The new site in Bengaluru is the company’s second global innovation center in the country.
The facility is spread across 50,000 square feet of land, and will serve as the primary development hub for the STLA Smartcockpit – one of the key technology platforms of the company’s transformation strategy coming in 2024. Operated by a joint venture between Stelantis and Foxconn, STLA will use AI-based applications to deliver an array of features and services such as smartcockpit navigation, voice assistance, an e-commerce marketplace, payment services, etc.
In addition, the new Bengaluru hub will also play a key role in the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) technologies for STLA Autodrive. Developed in partnership with BMW, STLA Autodrive will offer Level 2, 2+ and 3 autonomous driving capabilities that will be continuously upgraded through OTA updates.

The Bengaluru office will house state-of-the-art laboratories, including an acoustics laboratory, tasked with developing premium audio experiences along with distinctive audio signatures for Stellantis vehicle owners across the globe. The company claims that about 500 people will get employment in the new center.
The technologies and software developed at the new Bengaluru center will also be seen on the upcoming Citroen and Jeep models to be launched in India in the coming years. As of now, Citroen offers two products in India – the C5 Aircross SUV and the C3 hatchback, while Jeep’s portfolio includes the Compass, Meridian and Wrangler SUVs.
