The Industrial Safety and Health Department on Tuesday organized an awareness meeting to discuss the importance of safety and hygiene in industrial kitchens and canteens. About 200 representatives of industries from Kanchipuram and Tiruvallur zones participated in the meeting.
The meeting focused on maintaining health and cleanliness in these kitchens. MV Senthil Kumar, Director, Industrial Safety and Health, explained the guidelines to be followed for this.
Among the steps to be taken to implement the preventive measures, the meeting participants were asked to ensure that special teams are constituted to monitor the safety and hygiene of the food being prepared. The area where food is prepared should be pest free.
The participants were encouraged to adopt healthy practices and create awareness among the persons working in the kitchen as well as those working in the factories.
