He said that the decision to freeze three installments of DA/DR payable to Central Government employees/pensioners with effect from 01.01.2020, 01.07.2020 and 01.01.2021 was taken in the context of COVID-19 which has caused economic disruption in order to reduce the pressure. on government finance.
However, the minister said that there was a fiscal spillover beyond the financial year 2020-21 in view of the adverse financial impact of the pandemic in 2020 and the funding of welfare measures undertaken by the government, the release of arrears of DA/DR was not considered feasible.
