Redmi K60 and Redmi K60 Pro were launched in the Chinese market in the last week of December. More recently, new phones have been put through extensive teardowns to reveal their internals and show their repairability. The teardown video of the Redmi K60 and Redmi K60 Pro released by WekiHome shows the similarities and differences in their internals. Both the models feature a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with 2K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The Redmi K60 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, while the vanilla model has the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC under the hood.
The nine-minute teardown video by YouTube channel WikiHome begins by opening up the dual-SIM (Nano) tray. Redmi K60 And Redmi K60 Pro, The tray is placed under the two handsets. Once the rear glass covering is removed, it reveals a black frame with the wireless charging coil inside.
The position of the rear camera is different in both the devices. The Redmi K60 Pro has a bigger sensor than the Redmi K60. The teardown video shows a plastic bracket around the vanilla model to adjust the dimensions. The flash cable is affixed to the cover, while the LED lamp bead and a rear ambient light sensor are seen integrated on the cable. They also have a similar motherboard layout.
The YouTuber finds that both the motherboards use a single-layer design for heat dissipation. Apart from the cameras, the Redmi K60 series smartphones differ in chipset and memory features. The Redmi K60 Pro is powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, coupled with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. The vanilla model has the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 under the hood, along with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.
Taking apart the sub-board part reveals that the two handsets have the same matching earpiece configuration with two different suppliers. Both batteries have a single-cell design. The Redmi K60 Pro packs a 5,000mAh battery with 120W wired fast charging support, while the Redmi K60 packs a slightly bigger 5,500mAh battery with 67W wired fast charging support.
In addition, the teardown exposes the video screen. The YouTuber scrapes off the glue around the screen and separates it from the body. Both the Redmi K60 and Redmi K60 Pro feature CSOT-manufactured screens and C6 luminescent material, while the back of the screen has a copper foil coating. Tearing off two pieces of coaling film reveals a VC chamber area of 5000 mm sq. The vapor chambers appear to be slightly different in color with a yellow finish on the Redmi K60 Pro.
The Youtuber says that the overall power consumption of the Redmi K60 Pro will be lower. However, he adds that the temperature of the devices will be the same.
