The fourth cruise ship of the current season arrived at New Mangalore Port on January 13 with 123 passengers and 280 crew members.

Ship ‘The World’ Berth No. 04 at 1.30 pm It was the first cruise ship of 2023 to reach the port. The ship will depart from here on January 15 at 11 pm, said a release from the New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA).

The passengers were accorded a warm and traditional welcome while disembarking from the ship. Arrangements like medical screening and setting up of multiple immigration and custom counters were made for faster movement of passengers. They were provided with free Wi-Fi. Cloth and handicraft shops remained open. Buses, cars and vans were arranged for the local tour. This included two buses for passengers visiting the local market and shops in Mangalore city.

The Department of AYUSH has set up a meditation center inside the cruise lounge for the benefit of cruise passengers. The Ministry of Tourism under the Central Government and the State Tourism Department have arranged various activities and cultural programs to entertain the cruise passengers during their three-day stay.

‘The World’ is a private residential cruise ship that operates like a condominium complex, with large apartments available for purchase. Residents of several countries can live on board during the ship’s voyage. Some residents prefer to be on board full time while others visit from time to time throughout the year.

The ship has an overall length of 196.35 meters with a draft of 7.05 meters and a tonnage of 43,188 gross tonnage. The ship bound for Cochin Port came to India from Dubai and had earlier stopped at Mumbai and Mormugao Ports.

All three days in collaboration with Ministry of Tourism (GOI) and Department of Tourism (Government of Karnataka). The cruise passengers will be given souvenirs when they are going back to their ship as a memento of their visit to Mangalore.
