The celestial marriage ‘Goda Kalyanam’ of Goddess Andal with Lord Venkateswara was performed late Sunday evening at the parade ground in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.

Organized by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the month-long festival ‘Dhanurmasam’ of Goddess Andal or Godha Devi came to an end with the recitation of ‘Tiruppavai’.

Sri Krishna Seshachal Dikshitulu, one of the head priests of the Tirumala temple, officiated the celestial wedding, which turned out to be a feast for the devotees.

Vishwasena Puja, Punyahavachanam, Ankurarpanam, Raksha Bandhanam, Maha Sankalpam, Mangalya Puja and Dharana, Homam and Poornahuti were performed on the occasion.

Annamacharya Project Director Akela Vibhishana Sharma explained the important features of Tiruppavai and the goddess’s devotion to the Lord that led to the marriage. Singers presented Annamacharya Sankirtana for each ritual.

A dance ballet on ‘Goda Kalyanam’ by the students of Sri Venkateswara College of Music and Dance enthralled the audience.
