Union Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to address several rallies in Tripura on February 6 and 12 as part of his first political tour to the northeastern state. Election commission.

The BJP-ruled state is scheduled to vote for its 60-member assembly on February 16.

Nagaland and Meghalaya, two other northeastern states, will go to polls on February 27. The counting of votes in all the three states will take place on March 2.

Party sources said Shah will hold public meetings in Nagaland and Meghalaya as well and the program is being finalised.

The three northeastern states may be small in terms of their electoral size, but hold huge political significance.

While the BJP is pulling out all the stops to retain power in Tripura and expand its footprint in two other states, the Congress and the Left are trying to regain their lost influence, especially in Tripura.
