Uma Thurman will play Arianna Huffington in ‘Super Pump’, which chronicles the rise of Uber

Uma Thurman has been cast to star as Arianna Huffington in the Showtime series “Super Pump”, which chronicles the rise of American ride-hailing company Uber.

According to Diversity“Super Pump” is planned as an anthology, the first season of which is based on the book of the same name by Mike Isaacs.

It also stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Kyle Chandler.

Revolving around his sometimes tumultuous relationship with Uber CEO and co-founder Travis Kalanick (Gordon-Levitt) and mentor Bill Gurley (Chandler), the series will portray the upstart transportation company’s roller-coaster ride, with There are highs and lows of silicone involved. Valley.

Thurman, best known for the “Pulp Fiction” and “Kill Bill” series films, will essay the role of Huffington, an entrepreneur and co-founder of news website The Huffington Post, who was an Uber board member.

The project will mark the actor’s latest TV role in recent years. She recently appeared in the Netflix series “Chambers” and is set to star in the Apple thriller series “Suspicion”.

Amy Israel, executive vice president of scripted programming for Showtime, said the network is thrilled to be collaborating with Thurman that will lend her “innate complexity, wit and magnetism” on Huffington’s part.

Beth Schachter and “Billions” producers Brian Kopelman and David Levien serve on “Super Pump” as writers, executive producers and showrunners.

Alan Coulter will direct and produce the first episode. Paul Schiff, Alice Ozarsky and Stephen Schiff also executive produce. Isaac is co-executive producer. The anthology series will be produced by Showtime and is part of Kopelman & Levian’s overall deal with the network.

Elizabeth Shue, Keri Bishe, Jon Bass, Bridget Gao Hollit, and Babak Tafti also rounded out the series’ cast.
