A case has been registered against two teachers of a government school in Kerala’s Kannur district for allegedly abetting a girl student to commit suicide. The police gave this information on Thursday.

The Class VIII student of the Government Higher Secondary School at nearby Peralassery was found dead earlier this month.

In her suicide note, she has mentioned the names of two female teachers and accused them of scolding her for spreading ink in the classroom, police said.

A police officer said that some other students also gave statements against the teachers during the investigation.

“A case has been registered against them under section 306 of the IPC,” he said.

The official said that so far no decision has been taken for further action against the accused teachers.

Earlier, the relatives of the deceased girl had complained to the Chief Minister and the Director General of Police and demanded action against the teachers.
