Sector regulator TRAI on Friday issued a direction to telecom service providers to submit service quality reports for each state and union territory as well.
TRAI said that it is necessary to submit state and union territory-wise reports for QoS (Quality of Service) parameters for optimal analysis of quality of service. Telco,
“This will facilitate the service providers to improve the QoS in the State/UT as and when required by the concerned State/UT Governments,” TRAI said in a statement.
Accordingly, the Telecom Operators have been directed to submit state and union territory-wise reports with respect to QoS parameters on a quarterly basis from March 2023 quarter onwards.
“LSA (licensed service area)-wise data, as currently being submitted through various performance monitoring reports, will continue to be submitted as per the schedule defined in the regulation,” it said.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) in a review meeting last week made it clear that it will ask telecom operators to report call drop data at the state level as well, amid service quality issues and rising consumer complaints.
Earlier this week, mobile operators’ body COAI said state-wise reporting of call drop data also entailed several “difficulties” at the administrative and ground level, and that reporting should continue at the LSA (licensed service area) level.
