No plan to make subsidy scheme reliable
New Delhi:
The Delhi government has no plans to pay off its subsidy scheme and it will continue without any restrictions for the load to the customers. Delhi’s Electricity Minister Atishi gave this information on Monday. He noted that the Delhi Electricity Corporation Commission (DERC) issued a statutory advisory to the Delhi government in 2020, suggesting that the government consider limiting poverty and securities to power subsidies. The DERC withdrew the advisory on January 6 this year, saying the matter did not fall under their purview.

Last week, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi V. Of. Saxena told Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar that he personally instructs the Power Department about the Council of Ministers of the DERC and take a decision on it within 15 days. Atishi said, “The Delhi government is committed to ensure round-the-clock power supply. As stated in the same, there is no plan to disburse the subsidy scheme. The Lt Governor was probably misinformed as the DERC, in its statutory The advice has been withdrawn.”
Sources in residence, however, said that the Lt Governor has not in any of his submissions suggested or requested to withdraw the subsidy of the AAP government. “They repeatedly say that instead of subsidizing electricity, the focus should be on those who are eligible,” sources said. The blogger accused the government of favoring power distribution companies in the name of subsidizing the shares.
In a statement, the Aam Aadmi Party said, “If the lieutenant governor says this on record, we will file a defamation case against him.” The party also alleged that the Lt Governor has no understanding of his constitutional post.
