Amit Shah also targeted Congress regarding Muslim reservation.
Vijayapura:
Taking a jibe at the Congress, Union Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday said that while the BJP government is a “double engine” government, the Congress is a “reverse gear” government.
He asked the people not to give charge of the state to a government which in itself was an “obstacle” to development.
Addressing a public meeting at Devara Hippargi in Vijayapura, Amit Shah said, “On one side is the ‘double-engine’ government of PM Modi and Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and on the other is the ‘reverse gear’ government of the Congress. They (Congress) reverse Drive in gear.”
He said, “Whatever development the BJP government does, the Congress with its ‘reverse gear’ brings back the situation wherever the BJP government works.”
He targeted the Congress over its promise to restore 4 per cent Muslim reservation in the state.
“We made a big change in reservation. They (Congress) started creating ruckus and said it is unfair. I want to ask why reservation should be given on the basis of religion? Constitution does not allow reservation on religious basis. ” Aadhar, but Congress gave 4 percent reservation to Muslims just for their vote bank. Now, the BJP government has scrapped it and instead given it to Lingayats, Vokkaligas and other communities,” the home minister said.
He further added, “Congress says that if it comes to power, it will again give back reservation to Muslims and withdraw it from Lingayats, Vokkaligas and SC/STs. But don’t worry, neither Congress will come to power nor Yes. Will they be able to do it?”
The former BJP president said that the BJP has banned the Popular Front of India (PFI), which has been involved in large-scale violence in the state.
“We banned the PFI, which used to carry out incidents of violence in the state. When Siddaramaiah was the chief minister, he released all of them. But, once we came to power, we picked up each and every one of them. And put them back in jail.” This ‘reverse gear’ government says that if they come to power, they will lift the ban on PFI. This is an alarm bell for the whole of Karnataka.”
He said, “Congress was promoting PFI just for vote bank politics. But I want to assure everyone that there is no need to worry and this will not happen. Karnataka’s security under PM Modi is as it is. Will remain.” ,
Amit Shah also appealed to the people to let the ‘lotus’ bloom in the state for the welfare of the people of Karnataka and the country.
“On one side there is Congress, which has always been insulting Lingayats. On the other side, there is JDS, just to become the chief minister, last time he was sitting on the lap of Congress. Voting for JD(S) means voting for Congress. And voting for Congress means lifting the ban on PFI.”
In the 2018 assembly elections, the BJP won 104 seats and emerged as the single largest party, while the Congress and the JD(S) secured 78 and 37 seats, respectively.
The term of the 224-member Karnataka Assembly is set to end on May 24. Karnataka will go to polls on May 10 and the counting of votes will take place on May 13.
