Degree student kills himself in Andhra Pradesh’s Anakapalle district

A 20-year-old degree student ended his life by hanging himself due to financial problems at Dibbapalem village in Anakapalle district on Tuesday night.

The deceased has been identified as P. Madhu Kumar (20), a resident of Dibbapalem and a third year student.

Circle Inspector of Anakapalle (rural) police station, A. Ravi Kumar said that Madhu Kumar was addicted to bad habits and had borrowed around Rs 90,000 from his neighbor to fulfill his desires. It is being told that the neighbor had been demanding the youth to return the money for some time. A few days ago, the neighbor had informed the matter to his parents.

On April 23, Madhu Kumar attempted to end his life at his home during the absence of other family members. After returning, they took him to the hospital, where he died during treatment on Tuesday night.

“According to Madhu Kumar’s father, he had borrowed money for cricket betting. He had been doing this for some time. We are questioning his friends and close ones regarding this betting angle and are yet to ascertain it,” said Mr. Ravi Kumar.

Anakapalle (rural) police have registered a case. The dead body was sent for postmortem. Further investigation is on.
