In a recent Instagram post, psychologist Nicole LePera discussed the concept of “glimmers,” which are moments of peace and connection that can be found amid the stresses and triggers of daily life. According to Lepera, glimmers are the opposite of triggers, and occur when we feel fully present, open, grounded, and connected in our bodies.

Experts explain that when we experience flutters, our nervous system receives signals that signal safety, helping us to control our emotions and switch to a more relaxed, parasympathetic state. By prioritizing these flickers in our lives, we can reduce stress and increase our overall sense of well-being.
According to the psychologist, some of the signs of glowing are that you feel comfortable, hopeful, interconnected with people and that your life has value.
However, Nichol says that, unlike triggers, we have to consciously make an effort to seek out flashes. Here’s what you can do according to the psychologist:
- Feel the morning sun The calmness of the early morning sun’s gentle rays helps. It gives a feeling that a new day has come which will give us Courage and energy to face our issues.
- Appreciate Nature: There is nothing more peaceful than taking a walk or sitting casually amidst a blooming garden and admiring the beauty around you. More than anything it can calm your mind and soul.
- Hugging or talking to your partner: The warmth and intimacy you get from your partner can be extremely reassuring. The emotional security you’re looking for can come from their support and understanding.
- Creating something beautiful: It can be a short piece of poetry, an artistic painting, or simply a dish. The important thing is that you are happy with your creation.
- Do things that give you satisfaction: You can spend time with your pet, or have your favorite song playing on loop. Dance in the middle of the room or go swimming in the wide ocean. Do what gives you a good experience.
