HC slams order to pay Rs 2 crore to female model for mistake in haircut

Petition by luminary Anirudh Bose and friend Sudhanshu Dhulia on ITC’s plea challenging NCDRC order issuing notice to model Aashna Roy. The top court said the volume of the account should be based on physical signals and not merely on demand. The commission had on February 21, 2021 reaffirmed its order to pay Rs two crore to the model as compensation to the company. A new direction has come from the Supreme Court to appeal on behalf of ITC.

Earlier, in February this year, the Supreme Court had set aside the NCDRC order and asked the consumer panel to consider the matter after the material was presented by the model. The NCDRC had on April 25 confirmed its earlier order after Roy received e-mails of proposal proposals and executive contracts and guarantee applications.

Models arrive for a ‘hairstyle’ at Hotel ITC Maurya in New Delhi on April 12, 2018. He said that the ‘hairdresser’ who regularly took care of his hair. He was not, so another person was given the job. The model said that despite warnings, the new hairdresser chopped off her entire hair, leaving only four inches on the top and hair barely touching her shoulders.

According to the model, the reason for the mistake in the haircut was that she could not continue with her normal busy life, as she no longer looked beautiful. He said that this caused him great humiliation and embarrassment. Roy claimed that his career was completely ruined by the incident and he went into depression.

He then filed a complaint with NCDRC for deficiency in service and demanded a joke from the management. Apart from this, he demanded a compensation of three crore rupees, complaining of neglect and mental stress, loss of career, loss of income etc.
