Pixel: Google working on 2nd-gen Tensor chips, most likely for Pixel 7 : Reports – Times of India

Future Pixel As per a report by 9to5Google, the 7 is expected to have a second generation Google Tensor processor. The recently launched Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have introduced Google’s own Tensor chipset. These new chips are built with the help of Samsung and Google optimized for widespread machine learning use. It accelerates existing features and enables things that weren’t possible on any Pixel phone before.
The report said that a new Pixel-related codename ‘Cloudiper’ was found in the research apps present in the Google Pixel 6. Clouddripper is expected to be the name of the baseboard or developer board that shares common hardware with both the phones. , rather than being the codename for the upcoming Pixel 7 or Pixel 7 Pro. A similar codename ‘slider’ was earlier discovered for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro in 2020.
The report also mentions that the Clouddripper could be tipped to a second-gen version of Google Tensor chips with model number ‘GS201’. Comparing it to the ‘GS101’ present in the Pixel 6, this new chip is a generation upgrade and the model number can go up to 100 every year.
Clouddripper’s inclusion in Pixel-related apps Right now it looks like Google may be using this 2nd-gen Tensor GS201 chip in its flagship Pixel 7 expected to be released in 2022. It is unclear about the enhancements we should expect from the 2nd-gen chip as no hardware details have been confirmed yet.
