Bypoll results: No victory procession allowed after counting of votes: Election Commission

As the results of the bypolls are expected to be declared today, the Election Commission said that victory processions will not be allowed after the counting of votes.

It further states that not more than two persons shall be permitted to accompany the winning candidate or his authorized representative shall obtain a certificate of election from the Returning Officer concerned.

This decision has come in view of the situation of Coronavirus in the country.

The results of the by-elections held on October 30 in three parliamentary constituencies and 30 assembly constituencies will be declared today. At present, the counting of votes is going on in these seats.

These are 3 parliamentary constituencies, by-elections were held in 30 assembly constituencies:

  • The three parliamentary constituencies that went to polls on October 30 were in the Union Territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh.
  • Andhra Pradesh held elections in its Budvel (SC) constituency.
  • In Assam, elections were held in five assembly constituencies, Gosaigaon, Bhawanipur, Tamulpur, Mariani and Thaura.
  • In Bihar, elections were held on two seats, Kusheshwar Asthan (SC) and Tarapur.
  • Voting took place in Ellenabad assembly seat in Haryana.
  • In Himachal Pradesh, polling was held in three seats namely Fatehpur, Arki and Jubbal-Kotkhai.
  • In Karnataka, voting was held in two seats named Sindgi and Hangal.
  • Elections were held on Prithvipur, Raigaon (SC), Jobat (ST) seats in Madhya Pradesh. Voting took place in Deglur (SC) seat in Maharashtra.
  • Assembly by-elections were held in Meghalaya for Mawringkeng (ST), Mawphlang (ST) and Rajabala constituencies.
  • Voting took place in Mizoram’s Tuiriyal (ST) assembly constituency. Voting took place in the Shamtor-Chesore (ST) assembly seat in Nagaland.
  • In Rajasthan, polling was held in two constituencies, Vallabhnagar and Dhariyawad (ST).
  • Voting took place in Huzurabad assembly constituency in Telangana.
  • Voting for the assembly by-elections to the Dinhata, Shantipur, Khardaha and Gosaba (SC) assembly seats in West Bengal was held on October 30.
