After winning the gold medal at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020, Pramod Bhagat returned to his home state Odisha on Friday afternoon. Pramod was hailed as a hero by the state government amidst applause of drums and cheers at the Biju Patnaik International Airport. State Sports Minister Tusharkanti Behera and Secretary R. Vinil Krishna welcomed the Paralympic gold medalist at the airport.
Pramod thanked the state and the people for the grand welcome and said that this year’s Nuakhai (festival of western Odisha) will be celebrated with the joy of gold medals. The shuttler said her next target is to win another gold medal at the Paris Paralympics in 2024.
According to the program, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will felicitate Pramod at Kalinga Stadium this evening. The Odisha government has already announced that it will provide Rs.6 crore and a Group-A post job to the star shuttler.
Pramod won the gold medal in Badminton Men’s Singles SL3 at the recently concluded Tokyo Paralympics, 2020 by defeating Daniel Bethel of Great Britain.
