NS University Grants Commission (UGC) The U.S. has allowed universities to offer about 40 percent of their courses online through its own website. NS National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 It was suggested to conduct online courses “to increase outreach and increase GER”. Earlier, the credit limit was 20 per cent, but now it has been increased to 40 per cent.
Students studying in any college and university can take relevant Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) offered by any college on the government’s online platform and also get their scores transferred for their degree programme.

Colleges and universities have to operate in a mixed format. This means that students can complete 40 percent of any course online through courses offered by themselves and the rest directly from the institute. The UGC said that university classes and the courses themselves can be held together and students will get certification for the online course and the credit attached to their course will also be counted for the degree program that is offered to them.
The UGC had notified that “every institution of higher education shall, within four weeks from the date of publication of these regulations in the Official Gazette, make necessary amendments to adopt and incorporate its statutes, ordinances, rules and regulations through self-based online courses”. for seamless integration with the provisions of these regulations.”

NS The commission had also directed the colleges to prepare a map of their syllabus. in a suitable manner and suggest the students to take the course accordingly. The parent institution in which the student is registered shall ensure that the physical infrastructure including computer facilities, library etc. is provided accordingly. As per the guidelines such infrastructure should be made available free of cost.
A faculty member should also be designated as a facilitator to guide them in all processes including registration till the completion of the credit course. The parent institution will give equivalent credit weightage to the student for the credit earned through online learning credit courses through SWAYAM platform, in the credit scheme of the programme, as per the UGC.
