Jamshedpur: Police transferred the CPI (Maoist) leader on Monday morning Prashant Bose alias Kishan Das, his wife Sheela Marandi and four of his associates – Gurucharan Bodra, Krishna Banda, Raju Tudu and Virendra Hansda – were Birsa Munda Central Jail Amidst tight security in Ranchi’s Hotwar.
The six were brought to the Seraikela Divisional Jail after they were produced in the court of SDJM Kavitanjali Toppo on Sunday. All the six were taken to Seraikela Sadar Hospital for routine health check-up before being produced in the court. The militants were in 150-hour police remand for questioning. The police took him for questioning on November 15 with the approval of the court after his arrest on November 12.
All the six were nabbed from the Gidibera toll plaza at Chowka in Seraikela-Kharsawan district while they were traveling to West Singhbhum.
The Seraikela-Kharsawan police has remained silent on the information received from Kishan Da, but sources in the police administration said that the veteran has disclosed about the organization’s network in the eastern states and future plans related to the expansion of the banned outfit.
“While he (Bose) has been questioned by top officials of the state home department and the police, the district police was not directly involved in the interrogation process,” the police official said on condition of anonymity.
Kishan Da, who is said to be the secretary of the organization’s Eastern Region Committee (ERC), is accused of engineering several Naxal operations, including the March 4, 2007 murder of Jamshedpur MP Sunil Mahato and the killing of 14 policemen. In an IED blast on 20 December 2002 in Saranda, West Singhbhum.
The Seraikela-Kharsawan SP could not be contacted to know more about the outcome of the inquiry from Kolhan’s point of view.
