The proposal for another airport in Bangalore for Power Games in Karnataka Congress changes the runway

Bengaluru: The proposal of another airport in Bengaluru is increasing the existing tension within the ruling Congress party in Karnataka, as the loyalists of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah have taken advantage of the issue that they take advantage of the issue to attack Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar.

They also say that the claims of increasing demands around the second airport and competition claims are a reflection of deep cracks and ongoing power quarrel between the top leaders of the state.

“The issue of the airport or any other … they (Siddaramaiah’s loyalty) are trying to target DK (Shivkumar). In any way, this group is trying to push him out of CM’s race. If Siddaramaiah was going to complete a full five -year period, these people (Lylists) should not be targeted.

Karnataka Home Minister. A group of legislators led by God, lobbying for another airport to be built with the Nelamangala-Kunigal highway, is close to its Koratagre constituency in North Bengaluru.

In contrast, Shivkumar is emphasizing for another airport located near Kanakpura in South Bengaluru – a proposal that provides dual benefits: it will obstruct the development of Hosur Airport in Tamil Nadu, and will provide easy international access to residents of Southern Bengaluru and neighboring districts.

Connecting further complexity on the issue is senior Congress leader TB Jayachandra, who has gained the support of at least 40 MLAs, cutting into party lines, demanding that the airport be built about 122 km from Bangalore in Tumarkur’s end.

State Industries Minister MB Patil said in a statement on Tuesday, “The government intends to finalize the place of the airport based on the specific requirements of Bengaluru, and the final decision will be taken based on AAI reports and recommendations.”

A central team of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) visited two sites in South Bengaluru on Tuesday and inspected the third shortlisted location on Wednesday.

The Congress government, led by Siddaramaiah, has faced several internal challenges, in which power struggle between the Chief Minister and Shivkumar, the allegations of increasing corruption, inflation is connected to funding its guarantee plans, and even some senior ministers have made serious allegations against fellow cabinet members.

With Jayachandra entering the field, there are now at least three influential camps pushing for the airport to be built near their constituencies. The state government is also running to finalize the location before proceeding with its plan to build an airport in Tamil Nadu Hosur, which is just 40 km from Southern Bengaluru.

About all places

In the mid -1990s, the then Chief Minister HD Deve Gowda approved the construction of a new airport for Bangalore in Devanhali. At that time, there was also a deep lobbying to change the place. His son, HD Kumaraswamy, who was then entering politics as an MP from Kanakpura, transferred the airport to his constituency.

However, feasibility studies and other technical ideas decided to construct the airport at Devanhalli, where it began commercial operations in 2008.

Now, once again, some Congress leaders are questioning why southern Bengaluru is being considered, given that it was rejected earlier.

Patil clarified that Biddi -40 kilometers south of Bangalore – it is not in dispute, as Shivkumar has already planned a ‘Greater Bidadi’ layout in that area.

Tumkur’s Home Minister and MLA Parmeshwar advocates to be located with the Nelamangala-Kunigal highway for the airport, which passes through his constituency.

“First when the technical team I (in the end of the 1990s), they mentioned that an airport cannot be built in Bidadi. So we went to Devhali. Now we do not know if they would indicate it on it.”

It was not immediately clear whether God signed a petition under the leadership of Jaachandra, which advocates the airport to be constructed in the end.

Meanwhile, Jayachandra has put forward his case for another airport, which is located in the end of Tumkur. Jayachandra, an MLA from Sira, said, “By 2050, the population of Bengaluru will exceed three crores and the city will expand to Sira, which is ideal for another airport.” Deccan Herald,

Theprint reached Jaachandra for a comment through the phone. This report will then be updated if and when the response is obtained.

‘Siddaramaiah vs Shivkumar’

Last month, during the budget session of the Karnataka legislature, Cooperation Minister KN Rajanna said on the floor of the House that he was attempted to trap honey.

Prominent opposition and former Congress leaders like Ramesh Jerkiholi indicated fingers in Shivkumar, branding the Deputy Chief Minister as ‘CD factory’ and made other derogatory remarks. “Rajanna has been drawn to make such statements on the floor of the House with the help of the opposition. He has not even filed a complaint and has made statements to bring down the image of the government,” Jerkiholi said.

Several Congress leaders of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes communities are holding regular meetings to compete with Rajanna, Satish Jarkiholi, Parmeshwar and HC Mahadevappa – to compete with Shivkumar’s dialect, which to succeed Sidaramaiah as CM.

The issue of the airport, sources say, this ongoing power struggle is still likely to become another flashpoint.

Although Shivkumar has publicly stated that he will not interfere in the decision -making process, but the developments are known that he is strongly advocating for the construction of the airport in Southern Bengaluru.

A senior government official, who wishes not to name, said that Shivkumar is debating the business of Bengaluru, if the plan of Tamil Nadu airport goes ahead, it will be transferred to Hosur, given that the electronic city is just 40 km from Hosur. Major firms such as Infosys and Wipro will be easier to reach Hosur over the city over the city. Sources close to Shivkumar say that the Deputy Chief Minister is not troubled by disputes and is actually ‘remembering’ the preacher or negative or negative.

A source in the Government of Karnataka saw that Shivkumar carefully benefited after his Parliament comment on the Constitution. The senior official said, “Even the issue of airport will only help him to remain in the headlines.”
