Ultra and Alpine Quest -Technology that keep Pakistani terrorists, especially in late, J&K

New Delhi: The lack of technical intelligence has come in the form of a large road in search of Pakistani terrorists operating in Jammu and Kashmir, including the Pahgam massacre, Thrint has learned.

Sources in the security establishment said that unlike earlier times, when terrorist was using mobile or satellite phones for communication and many times radio handsets, they have seen negligible communication in the last two-three years, especially among foreign terrorists.

While Jaish-e-Mohammed (Gem) and their frontal organizations, People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAF), are using traditional communication systems, often use phones taken from local people or use their WiFi NextWorks, sources said that people of Lashkar-e-Taiba (Letter) or resistance are using encrypted communities.

Sources said that a suspected Chinese technology has been found using a communication tool called ‘Ultra’.

Last week, Union Home Minister Amit Shah allegedly informed the all-party meeting that the security agencies could not detect any communication signal within the radius of 50 km at least five days before the attack “.

According to Shah, HinduThe MPs informed that the terrorists did not use any communication equipment.

Sources said that Ultra is a system connected to a regular mobile phone and is able to transmit information through radio networks. He said that it is encrypted and they have not been able to ignore how the signal is sent back to Pakistan.

Sources said that these are like satellite equipment connected to a special mobile phone. He explained that the first technology had allowed only encrypted text messages, but now also allows voice notes and videos to send.

“Phones are not using any Indian mobile operator like Airtel or Jio and are not like traditional satellites,” one of the sources explained.

He said that the problem with ultra technology is that when the security forces are able to take it at the moment on which it is switched, the location is very normal and can occur sometimes within a radius of 5–10 km.

Sources said that even after the Group of Lashkar-e-Tabiba terrorists behind the Pahgam attack, those forces have raised ‘Ultra’ beeps a few times, but there is not yet a pinpoint place.

Another strategy that uses terrorists holds the message in the outbox and is briefly switching to the handset to send or receive messages.

Asked how let’s use this technology and game, sources said that late is supported and funded by Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

Another source said, “IA is like ISI’s Territorial Army. Jame has its own different funding and protocols, although they also work with ISI from time to time. But they are more independent of late,” another formula explained.

Asked how terrorists are managing from one place to another through thick forests, sources said that there are various open source apps in the dark net and otherwise which allows storage of pre-fixed locations and do no internet or satellite connection functions without maps.

One such device that terrorists are using is Alpine Quest, a mapping and navigation application, is popular among many trekkers. Such maps allow pre-finished locations and they are also able to work in offline mode, which are without any internet connectivity.

Sources said that in many tasks, security forces have recovered ultra phones, but are not able to track it. Such recovery took place in 2023 after an encounter in Sindhara top area of Surkot, sources said, “Even favorable Western countries have not been able to crack it.”

Sources said that once ultra and communication equipment is found, they are able to read the messages and who have been sent to them. The name has been saved as a code and for some time, the security forces find out who is.

“The problem is that we have not been able to crack when information transmissions are on. This is a concern.”

He said that security forces were initially surprised by the lack of technical intelligence footprints by the terrorists. Another source said, “This is only after encounters and seizures, we are capable of finding these terrorists the routes that these terrorists took and those who are more.”
