Eight judges- Justice Bragavai, Jebpardiwala, Mamsundresh, Abhay Oka, Manmohan, Sudhanshu Dhulia, Sanjay Karol, Augustine Maasih and Vinod Chandran have also given details of his liabilities. While Justice Pardwala, Sundarsh, Dhulia and Maasih have domestic loans, Justice Oka has a car loan to repay.
Justice Gawai, Manmohan and Karol have a rental security in the form of liabilities. Justice Chandran has taken a loan against a certain deposit.
The announcement is part of a proposal which was unanimously approved by all sitting Supreme Court judges in a full court meeting held on 1 April. As reported earlier by ThePrint, the proposal was approved in view of the dispute, which was then generated after the alleged discovery of cash at the residence of Judge Yashwant Verma, the High Court of Delhi, which was then transferred to the Allahabad High Court.
The move was seen as a departure from prevailing exercises, under which Judges disclose to the Chief Justice of India (CJI) and do not need to make them public, unless a specific judge has a desire to do so on a voluntary basis.
With the new resolution, the public announcement of assets will no longer be an discretionary practice and will also apply to future judges.
The revealed information suggests that Justice Keviswanathan has the highest investment, which has invested more than Rs 120 crore in shares, mutual funds, fixed deposits, debentures, public provident funds and general provident funds. Both he and his wife, a practicing lawyer have also invested money in US dollars under the Liberalized Remedy Scheme of the Reserve Bank of India, which allows individuals to independently of $ 2,50,000 per financial year abroad.
Justice KV Vishwanathan, who was a senior advocate to practice in the Supreme Court before he was elevated on the bench in May 2023, has also revealed the details of his income tax return. By 2010, by the time he became a judge, Justice Vishwanathan has deposited Rs 91 crore as taxes.
In addition to owning two self-interested apartments at Safdarjung Development Area (SDA) in South Delhi, Justice Vishwanathan has an apartment in Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu and a basement in Gulmohar Park in Delhi which is jointly with his wife.
Justice PS Narasimha, the second sitting SC judge, who reached the bench directly from the bar, has also provided the statement of taxes that he has paid and even after his appointment in the apex court in 2022 for three years. It is about 31.45 crores.
His investments worth Rs 35 crore are made in addition to bank accounts in mutual funds, fixed deposits and gold bonds. He has an insurance policy of more than Rs 82 lakh and has an apartment in a self-aged house and Supreme Court towers in Noida-a cooperative housing society launched by lawyers registered with Supreme Court Bar Association.
While he has inherited a portion of his ancestral property in Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad, from where he is, his wife has a small office place on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and also a third of the Noida House.
Both Justices Narasimha and Vishwanathan are expected to be CJIS in future.
Disclosure suggests that the spouse of Justice Vikram Nath and MM Sundaresh has made more financial investments than two judges.
While Justice Sundarash does not have shares, his wife has shares in companies like Reliance Industries, ONGC, Unitech Limited, DLF Limited, L&T and ICICI Bank. Justice Sundarsh has a savings of Rs 55 lakh in its General Provident Fund (GPF) and Rs 10 lakh with Life Insurance Corporation (LIC).
The judge and his wife have also declared their diamond jewelery, which they have in addition to gold. Justice Sundresh has a diamond carat, while his wife has 15 carat diamonds. The couple together own a property in Chennai and acquired individual plots in Aerod, Tamil Nadu. Justice Sundarash has more than 23 acres of land in Lakkapuram and Agehumathur.
While the shares of Justice Nath have total investment, mutual funds, fixed deposits, GPF, PPF and bonds around Rs 1.5 crore, his wife’s assets in financial instruments are about Rs 3.25 crore. To clarify, Justice Nath’s wife is the Vice Chancellor of Allahabad University.
Justice Nath is a future CJI and is currently a member of the collegium who recommends appointments in the Supreme Court. Very soon, it will also be part of the three -member collegium which approves candidates for the High Courts.
The judge has inherited a 2,000 square yard ancestral bungalow in his hometown prayer and has a two -bedroom apartment in the nodia, while his wife is owned by a two -bedroom apartment in Prayagraj. He also owns 1,000 grams of gold, while his wife has 1,500 grams of gold.
CJI as Sanjeev Khanna, who heads the collegium and judicial family, PPF and GPF where they have invested their maximum. He has more than Rs 1 crore in PPF, while GPF is slightly more than Rs 1.77 crore. He has an FDR of Rs 55 lakh and has shares of Rs 14,000.
However, CJI Khanna’s wife has shares and mutual funds of over Rs 1.39 crore. Their asset disclosure suggests that CJI owns a Maruti Swift car that he bought in 2015 and has 250 grams of gold. The manifestation of his wife’s jewelery suggests that he has 700 grams of gold and a few pieces of diamonds, besides five kilograms of silver.
The properties of CJI in Delhi include two bedrooms DDA Flat and four-bedroom flat in the Commonwealth Games (CWG) village. The remaining 44 percent stake with his daughter in the four-bedroom flat in Gurugram. He is also a co-owner in his ancestral home, who dating in Himachal Pradesh before Pakistan.
Justice Bragavai, who will be sworn in as CJI next week and CJI Khanna is after Seniyormost College, he has some shares. He has named only one share which he is in Nyay Sagar Copenitive Society in Mumbai. Together in PPF and GPF, Justice Gawai covered a distance of more than Rs 42 lakh, while his wife has Rs 6.59 lakh in PPF account.
Justice Gawai has its own residential apartment in Bandra, Mumbai, one in the Raksha Colony and in Amravati inherited a house from his father. He has agricultural land in Amravati and Kedapur, Katol, Nagpur. He also inherited some agricultural land from his father.
Justice Surya Kant, who is also ready to become CJI by the end of this year, owns joint assets, with his wife, Sushant Lok, Gurugram, Greater Kailash-I in Delhi and more than 13 acres of agricultural land in Gopura village of Panchkula. He has a 250 square yard plot in Gurugram which is his special property. He has also inherited a part in two ancestral properties left behind by his father in Hisar.
The judge has also revealed that he owns three valuable watches. As far as their investments are concerned, they have the amount of FDR Rs 4.11 crore, including the interest amount. He also has an FDR, which he has declared part of the Hindu undivided family (HUF) and is for more than Rs 1.92 crore, including re -interest.
His spouse also has an FDR of more than Rs 1.96 crore, including interest. While Justice Kant has a GPF of more than Rs 3 crore, his wife has a PPF where he has Rs 49.90 lakh.
The judge also revealed about the FDR owned by his two daughters, which along with large companies, along with their respective PPF accounts and gold jewelry.

FDRS and senior citizen savings also
Justice Abhay Oka, who is ready to retire at the end of this month, has invested maximum in PPF (Rs 92 lakh), followed by FDR (Rs 21.76 lakh) and then mutual funds (Rs 8.20 lakh). He also had a shares (Rs 4.75 lakh) and an LIC policy of Rs 1 lakh. His total investment is around Rs 1.38 crore.
The owner of Maruti Baleno, Justice Oka, has two properties in Thane and an undivided stake in agricultural land in Kulgaon village of Thane.
After assuming office in May 2028, Justice JB Pardwala, who is ready for a two -year period in the CJI office, has also invested in mutual funds which is more than Rs 2 crore. His wife also has a mutual fund of Rs 1 crore.
He has a house in Ahmedabad, Tithil village has ancestral property, Valsad in Gujarat and Nidhrad Tal, Ahmedabad in agricultural land. Both he and his wife have shares at ACML Capital Markets Limited.
Justice Pankaj Mithal, who meets Shragraj, appears to be the only judge who has chosen the post office for his investment, in addition to saving in his GPF. He has opted for the Senior Citizen Savings Scheme account with the post office in the Supreme Court, there is also a savings bank account and he has chosen the National Pension Scheme for both his wife and himself.
In addition, they have a couple of FDR with State Bank (SBI) in their prayer branch.
Justice Bela Trivedi, one of the two sitting female judges, has a mutual fund of Rs 60 lakh, to provide details about their assets. Due to jewelery worth Rs 50 lakh, Justice Trivedi has a residential house in Gujarat, Gujarat and a house, which is under construction in the Nitibagh Judges Cooperative Society.
Justice Manmohan, who was the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, has inherited a part in South Delhi’s Vasant Vihar property after the death of his father and former J&A Governor Jagmohan. In addition, they have a plot and flat in Gurugram, Saharanpur also has a part of agricultural land, up, and a golf link property.
Both he and his wife have invested a lot in RBI bonds. While his investment is close to Rs 12 crore, his wife has about Rs 7 crore. Justice Manmohan also has an GPF account of Rs 3.9 crore, while his wife has about Rs 3 crore.
While Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia has no investment in mutual funds, or FDS or debenture or PPF, they have two LIC policies and have a GPF of Rs 20 lakh. He has a house in Dehradun, from where he earns a monthly income of Rs 1.4 lakh. He inherited this house from his mother. In addition to a three-bedroom house in Nainital, Justice Dhulia has inherited ancestral properties in the Puree Garhwal region.
Justice Sanjay Karol, who practiced in the Supreme Court before his height as a judge in the Himachal Pradesh High Court, “listed companies have very few shares.” They also have no FDS, bonds, debentures or PPF, but have an GPF account. While he acquired a flat in Defense Colony in 2017, his wife has one since 2003. Justice Karol, however, Himachal Pradesh has many ancestral properties.
Justice Sanjay Kumar has shared details of the shares of all the company along with his wife with him. He has also revealed his investment of Rs 3 crore with a private firm owned by his brother -in -law. The money deposited is the sales income that he received after disposing of his properties over the period of time. He announced that his wife’s jewelery is declared under the government and the banks are deposited in the fare of their bank account paid by the tenants.
Justice Kumar has shares in companies like Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (6,000), Cholamandalam Finance Limited (1,000), Reliance Industries Limited (1,708) and Vijaya Diagnostics Center Limited (10,000).
Justice Rajesh Bindal has shares worth Rs 3.20 crore. However, he has not revealed the names of companies where they have invested. Apart from being a part of properties in Chandigarh and Ambala City, Justice Bindal owns a house in Mohali.
While Justice SV Bhatti has GPF and LIC investment, Justice Augustine Maasih also has mutual funds and PPF as well as GPF.
Justice Sandeep Mehta has very few shares in Reliance, and more investment in mutual funds. He has an insurance policy with Aditya Birla Sun Life, besides keeping both GPF and PPF accounts. According to the details mentioned on the website, he has also given a loan of more than Rs 50 lakh to his wife.
Justice Vinod Chandran has four mutual funds, while his wife has eight. Both have three joint bank accounts.
