A Nigerian national was arrested by the Prohibition Enforcement Wing police (PEW) of Erode Town on charges of selling cannabis near the Vijayamangalam toll plaza in Erode district on Friday.
The arrest took place during a routine patrol in the toll plaza area, where police noticed a foreign national loitering under suspicious circumstances. Upon questioning, the individual was identified as Jones (44), a citizen of Nigeria currently residing in Sangu Nagar, Vijayamangalam.
During inquiry, the police found that he was involved in the sale of cannabis. Following this, Jones was arrested, and police seized 1.2 kilograms of cannabis and one gram of methamphetamine in his possession. Further investigation is on.
