New Delhi, May 24 (PTI) India has become the fourth largest economy in the world, overtook Japan, BVR Subrahmanyam, CEO of Niti Aayog, said on Saturday.

Briefing reporters after NITI Aayog’s 10th Governing Council meeting, Subrahmanyam said that the overall geo -political and economic environment is favorable to India.

He said, “We are the fourth largest economy as I speak. We are a USD 4 trillion economy as I say,” he said.

Citing IMF data, Subrahmanyam said that India is larger than Japan today.

“This is only America, China, Germany, which is larger than India and if we are planning and what is being thought in 2.5-3 years, we will be the third largest economy,” Subrahmanyam.

US President Donald Trump’s recent statement answering a question that he hoped that he would be sold in the US in the US, which will be constructed in the US and in India, or anywhere, Subrahmanyam said, “What will be the tariff, uncertain.
