Will Fastag Annual Toll Pass be a reality? What do we know here

The central government is working on a new toll policy that can make highway travel more comfortable and economical for passengers. As times of IndiaVehicle owners may soon opt for a Fastag Annual Pass, allowing unlimited travel on national highways and expressways, with a one -time payment of Rs 3,000 per year.

According to officials, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (Morth) is considering a dual payment system under the new toll regime, giving users an annual pass and distance-based pricing.

Two Payment Options:

  • Annual Pass: A one -time Fastag recharge of Rs 3,000 will allow private vehicle owners to travel on all national highways, state expressways and expressways without additional toll charges for the whole year.
  • Distance-based pricing: For those who do not choose the option of annual models, a flat toll of Rs 50 km per 50 km per current toll plaza can change the fee structure.

The new system will use the existing Fastag Infrastructure, which will not require any additional documents or establishments. In particular, the government has given shelter to an earlier proposal, suggesting a lifetime fastag costing Rs 30,000 for 15 years.

Any more toll plaza?

The policy aims to eliminate toll booths, they have to change them with sensor-based digital toll collections to ensure barrier-free travel. This will depend on GPS and automated vehicle tracking systems for toll cuts.

Contractor compensation and enforcement

To remove the concerns of contractors and toll operators, the Ministry has planned to compensate them on the basis of digital toll data and the government approved by the government. Additionally, banks may be given more powers to prevent toll theft, including the right to implement minimum balance requirements on Fastag-linked accounts.

If applied, this policy can be significantly reduced, reduce travel time, and can reduce the cost of long -range road travel for regular passengers.
