Seven persons from Pune district have tested positive omicron version of coronavirus, a health official said on Sunday.
These included a woman who had come from Nigeria along with her two daughters to meet her brother in Pimpri Chinchwad area, the official said. He said his brother and his two daughters have also tested positive for the variant.
Another case is of a person from Pune who had returned from Finland in the last week of last month.
He said that the total number of confirmed cases of Omicron in Maharashtra has gone up to eight.
A 33-year-old man from Maharashtra’s Thane district had tested positive for the Omicron variant of the coronavirus. The man, a marine engineer, is currently undergoing treatment at a COVID-19 care center in Kalyan city, located about 50 km from state capital Mumbai.

The resident of Dombivli town had come to Delhi from South Africa on November 23 and then on a flight to Mumbai.
