Kohli removed from ODI captaincy as Rohit’s new white-ball captain

Ajinkya Rahane has been removed from the Test vice-captaincy.

Virat Kohli was on Wednesday removed as India’s ODI captain along with the national selection committee, making Rohit Sharma the team’s only white-ball leader until the 2023 50-over World Cup.

In another significant development, Ajinkya Rahane was dropped from Test vice-captaincy, a position that was also offered to Rohit.

The BCCI has announced an 18-man squad for the three-Test series which excludes all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, spinner Axar Patel and opener Shubman Gill due to various injuries.

Hanuma Vihari has made a comeback in the main team while Ishant Sharma has managed to retain his place despite his poor form.
