Security forces launched a search operation in Baragam area of South Kashmir district following specific inputs about the presence of terrorists.
An unidentified terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces on December 12 in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation after receiving specific information about the presence of terrorists in Bargam area of Awantipora in South Kashmir district, a police official said.
He said that when the security forces were conducting searches in the area, the terrorists opened fire on them.
The officer said the forces retaliated, which was followed by an encounter in which one terrorist was killed.
He said the identity and affiliation of the slain terrorist is being ascertained. He said the operation is on and detailed information is awaited.
