PM Modi to address summit on agri-food processing on Thursday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the concluding session of the National Summit on Agriculture and Food Processing on Thursday (December 16) to present a detailed outline of natural farming, the Agriculture Ministry said on Monday.

The summit is being organized as part of the pre-event Vibrant Gujarat Summit to be held in Anand, Gujarat from 14 to 16 December 2021. The summit will be attended by 5000 farmers who will be present in the summit, the ministry said.

Apart from this 80 Central Institutes of ICAR, Krishi Vigyan Kendras and ATMA network in the states will also connect the farmers to watch this program live to learn and learn about the practice and benefits of natural farming.

About zero budget natural farming

Zero budget natural farming has been identified as a promising tool to reduce the dependence of farmers on procured inputs, reduce the cost of agriculture by relying on traditional field based technologies thereby improving soil health. It emphasizes shifting of agricultural practices from single-cropping to diverse multi-cropping system.

The indigenous cow, its dung and urine play an important role whereby various inputs such as Beejamrut, Jeevamrut and Ghanjeevamrut are made on the farm and are a source of nutrients and soil life for good agricultural production.

Other traditional practices such as mulching the soil with biomass or covering the soil with green cover throughout the year, even in conditions of very low water availability, are added practices that continue from the first year of adoption. also ensure continuous productivity.

In order to emphasize on such strategies and to send a message to the farmers in the remote areas of the country, the Government of Gujarat will organize a National Summit on Agriculture and Food Processing with focus on Natural Farming at Anand, Gujarat from 14th December to 16th December 2021. is organizing.
