New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday urged Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief ministers to implement a data-driven governance model based on technology and end the “license raj”.
in more than four hours meeting in varanasi During a two-day visit to his parliamentary constituency, PM Modi asked all 12 chief ministers of the BJP to reduce the compliance burden in every sector and focus on climate-resilient infrastructure and natural farming, as per an official BJP statement. The statement said.
BJP national president JP Nadda, party’s deputy chief ministers and other top leaders also participated in the meeting, which was aimed at sharing good governance practices within the party.
“The basic idea was to showcase the best practices and the BJP model of governance,” senior BJP leader Vinay Sahasrabuddhe told ThePrint.
The Chief Ministers and their representatives presented the major welfare schemes of their respective states and threw light on the innovative practices in detail.
Some of these include climate-resilient infrastructure projects, issuance of family identity cards, schemes to promote natural farming and rural livelihood programs with self-help groups at the centre.
“Several Chief Ministers made presentations on the best practices adopted in their states. Some are highly successful and it came to the notice of other chief ministers that they be adopted,” said Sahasrabuddhe, who was present during the meeting.
what did the PM say
According to the BJP statement, PM Modi during the meeting highlighted several dimensions of governance and called upon each BJP government to carve out a niche for itself in some area.
Referring to his government’s adage of ‘Minimum Government, Maximum Governance’, the PM called for giving priority to ‘ease of living’. The statement said that they sought removal of the old laws and reducing the compliance burden.
He asked the Chief Ministers to adopt a data-driven approach to governance for last mile delivery with speed and transparency.
To promote economic opportunities among the government’self-reliant (self-reliance)’ push, the prime minister asked the CMs to work on ‘one district, one product’, the statement said, adding that states were asked to consider exporting their products abroad.
Modi also emphasized the importance of youth development and women empowerment as priority areas. He also mentioned the need to strengthen the fight against malnutrition.
In his opening remarks, JP Nadda said the BJP and “good governance” have become synonymous, and lauded PM Modi’s success in completing two decades in public office this year.
After the meeting, Nadda, CM and Deputy CM also visited Varanasi Development Authority’s Govardhan Project, Deendayal Upadhyay Memorial Sthal and Sarnath.
