A 27-year-old man was killed while his friend was injured in a fight with another group in central Delhi’s Ranjit Nagar, police said on Sunday. A CCTV footage shows a fight between two groups of three men each before the murder.

The brawl took place on the night of October 12 when Nitesh, Alok and Monty allegedly stopped three men on bikes for honking horns and thrashed one of them, who fell to the ground, news agency PTI informed of.

A senior police officer said that as the bike became unbalanced, the other two also fell and a scuffle broke out between the groups. Since no statement was made by anyone, a case was registered under sections 308 (attempt to murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code on DD entry at Ranjit Nagar police station and an investigation was conducted. Nitesh died on Saturday after suffering a head injury and becoming unconscious, following which section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code was added to the FIR. The police have identified the three absconding accused.

Police said the footage of the incident shows that the quarrel was started by Nitesh and Alok. However, in the end the other side overpowered him and beat him up. Police said that both Nitesh and Alok have old criminal records.

Police have denied any communal angle in the incident, but said both the sides belonged to different communities.

However, as a precaution, Rapid Action Force (RAF) has been deployed in the area.

Reacting to the incident, BJP leader Kapil Mishra said that the way Rinku Sharma, Dhruv Tyagi, Ankit, Dr Narang, Rahul and Manish were murdered in Delhi last week, Nitish was also murdered in Delhi. Went.
