The iconic CSI All Souls Church in Coimbatore witnessed a rare incident on Sunday.

“Our service to humanity is a real opportunity to prove our genuine love for God and God alone,” said speaker Shehnaaz Parveen, an invited speaker at the Sunday service at the church.

At 8.30 a.m. during the sermon of the service, the Rev. Charles Samraj, the presbyter and president of the church, took a break and invited a woman in hijab to lecture.

“We don’t have words to describe our happiness. I really believe this is the kind of gesture we do between different religions [the country] want now. After all, all religions emphasize on love and harmony,” said Ms Parveen of Jiva Shanti Trust, which arranged the last rites of over 10,000 people, including unclaimed and abandoned bodies, to honor them for their service to the society. Is.

When Ms. Parveen ended her three-minute speech with a verse from the Bible, the congregation stood and cheered, “He who has mercy on the poor lends it to the Lord, and he gives it to him for his good deeds.” will pay for it (Proverbs 19:17).”

He thanked the Church for giving the rare honor and a glimpse of the Trust’s services to the congregation.

The trust has members and volunteers from different religions. The trust’s founder Mohammad Salim said the appreciation he received during Sunday’s ceremony gave him more strength to continue his services.

The church administration honored all the representatives of the trust by wearing shawls. The church administration had invited six people, including Ms. Parveen.

According to Rev Samraj, the service rendered by the Trust and its volunteers to the society, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, deserved praise as they worked irrespective of religion, caste, creed or social status of the needy.

“We have a theme for every Sunday service. The theme for this Sunday was ‘God: For People of All Religions’. We found it appropriate to invite and honor the heads of the trust because of the services they provide. They go well with the theme,” he said.
