New Delhi: Anti-Corruption Branch (ACBDelhi government arrested AAP MLA Amanatullah on Friday KHAN for his alleged involvement in the case of illegal appointments and financial irregularities in the management of Delhi Waqf Board,
The ACB had registered an FIR in the matter in 2020 under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Confirming the arrest, ACB chief Madhur Verma said that the agency had arrested Khan on the basis of incriminating material and evidence against him. Friday.
The agency on Friday carried out searches at several places across Delhi, which claimed to have recovered Rs 24 lakh in cash and two illegal arms and ammunition besides properties and documents related to business transactions.
According to the ACB, an illegal pistol and cash were recovered from Kaushar Imam Siddiqui, an AAP functionary (ward president) resident of Batla House. A complaint has been lodged with the Delhi Police and a case has been registered against him under the Arms Act.
The ACB said that an ACB team led by the ACP was attacked outside Khan’s residence during the raid by Khan’s associates and relatives.
The ACB had been tightening the noose on Khan for the past few months. The agency had in August written to the Lt Governor seeking the removal of Khan from the post of Delhi Waqf Board chairman as it was affecting the investigation against him. The ACB had said that the witnesses were not deposing against Khan out of fear.
