Patna: As part of the action against illegal sand mining in Mekara village of Mokama block of Patna district, a joint raid team of Police and Mines and Geology Department on Thursday arrested 19 people. However, the main kingpin of the mining racket escaped.
According to sources, the team raided and arrested the smugglers when they were carrying white sand in two big boats.
inspector Rajnandan The SHO of Mokama police station said that the main accused was evading arrest. “The police action has certainly stirred up the illegal sand traders,” he said.
The arrested persons have been identified as Akhilesh Kumar. Sahadev Bind, mithlesh kumar, open bind, Parshuram Bind, Sajan BindHeera Mahto, Mano Mahto, Khakra Mahto, Devendra Nishad, Sulechan, Kanchan Mahto, Lalan, Mantu, Sukhram Kumar, Raviraj, Jairam Mahto, Sakhichan and Jano Singh. All of them are residents of Sultanpur Bind Toli.
Meanwhile, the Jamho police of Siwan district has arrested a person named Santosh Singh in connection with the murder of BJP worker Janardan Singh.
