Gurgaon: 200 illegal shops in 60 residential properties of DLF-3 licensed colony were sealed while some others were partially demolished by the enforcement team of Town and Country Planning Department (DTCP) on Friday for unauthorized construction Gone.
DTCP officials along with 150 policemen and two earthmovers carried out sealing and demolition operations in U-16, U-15, U-13 and U-8 lanes in DLF-3 areas.
According to DTCP, criminals carried out unauthorized construction in violation of Haryana Development And Regulation of Urban Areas Act No. 8. Major violations of 1975 include construction of 4-5 additional floors and extended balconies, 100% coverage of plot areas, amalgamation of two or more plots for the construction of commercial buildings such as offices, shops and eateries.

Illegal business activities were being carried out from EWS Plots of 60 to 120 yards.
“Besides, the encroachments done by these residential units on the roads have been demolished. Overhangs, extended balconies and other projections in front of various residences were also demolished,” he said.
Madholia said, “The owners of these units did unauthorized construction. Some of them even raised their buildings to the permissible height. Moreover, many built without taking into account the structural sustainability aspects”.
He also said that buildings raised to non-permissible heights are prone to collapse without taking into account the structural stability aspect.
During the survey of DLF-3 last year, several violations were found in 2,500 buildings of a total of 3,200 properties. Of these, there were serious violations in 1,000, posing a serious threat not only to the residents, but also to the DTCP.
As per Section 3 of the Act, no one can construct or reconstruct a building in a licensed colony without the mandatory permission. Also, contravention of any provision of this Act or the rules, says section 10, made thereunder or any condition of the license granted under section 3 shall be punishable with imprisonment.
The official also said that increasing such huge unauthorized structures beyond the permissible limits is not only creating undue pressure on the provision of essential infrastructure facilities and also on the infrastructure service planned and developed by the agencies for a particular population in that area. But it is also causing problems for the residents.
