Actor and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Nandamuri Taraka Ratna passed away on Saturday. The 39-year-old was undergoing treatment at Narayana Hrudayalaya in Bengaluru.
He was hospitalized after suffering a heart attack during a political rally in Chittoor in neighboring Andhra Pradesh.

After initial treatment at a nearby hospital, he was airlifted to Bengaluru.
Sources said that ever since he was admitted to the hospital, his condition was extremely critical and he breathed his last on Saturday. Family sources said the actor is survived by his wife Alekhya and a daughter.
Taraka Ratna also acted in a few Telugu films, including his debut film Okato No. Kurradu (in 2002), before venturing into politics. However, he could not make it big on the silver screen like some of his cousins like Jr NTR of ‘RRR’ fame.

Expressing grief over the death of Tarak Ratna, Naidu said that efforts to save Tarak Ratna’s life, prayers of family members and fans and treatment by specialist doctors did not yield any result. Naidu also said that the family is in shock over the loss of Tarak Ratna, though the young actor had fought for his life for 23 days.
Chiranjeevi tweeted, “Deeply saddened to learn about the tragic untimely demise of #Nandamuri Taraka Ratna. Such a bright, talented, affectionate young man… gone too soon! Heartfelt condolences to all the family members and fans! May his soul rest in peace!”
