He also accused the Congress of weakening the judiciary and said that if the opposition party tries to ‘tear’ the Constitution by attacking the judiciary, ‘we will not sit silent’.

Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju on Saturday attacked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, saying he has failed politically and claimed that the Adani issue is being “deliberately” raised to tarnish his political career.

He also accused the Congress of weakening the judiciary and said that “we will not remain silent” if the opposition party tries to “tear” the Constitution by attacking the judiciary.

“I am not going to comment on it (Hindenburg-Adani case) because the Supreme Court has already constituted a committee and is looking into it. But I want to say that all this is being done to brighten the political career of Rahul Gandhi.

He said it was being made an issue “deliberately”.

“The country is run by the Constitution and the law of the land. A person has failed politically and they are trying to stir up controversies, make it an issue to brighten their career.

When asked about the alleged threat to cut off the tongue of the Surat judge who convicted Gandhi in a 2019 criminal defamation case, Rijiju said, “The Congress is in desperation and is attacking the judiciary, but the government will not sit silent.” Case.

Gandhi was disqualified as a member of the Lok Sabha last month following her conviction and two-year sentence in the case over her “Modi surname” remark. “It is the habit of the Congress (issuing threats against the judiciary). The law minister alleged that after the imposition of Emergency in 1975, its leaders attacked the judiciary and they would attack more because of their frustration.

Rijiju said, “We are the followers of the Constitution and we will not keep quiet if they try to tear the Constitution to shreds.”

He said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has rightly said that a person associated with dynastic politics is in danger, not democracy.

Hitting out at Gandhi’s recent remarks in Britain, Shah had on Friday said in Uttar Pradesh that it was not democracy that was in danger, but the idea of ’your family’ and dynasty politics.
