Add more seats in MP, government colleges to start job-oriented courses

The task force of the Government of Madhya Pradesh held a meeting today to discuss the implementation of the scheme. National Education Policy 2020 in the state. State Education Minister Mohan Yadav said that the government will start 177 new diploma and 282 certificate courses under the policy.

The Minister said that new courses would be introduced to develop more job oriented programs in the higher education system. The government is also planning to develop 79 new subject curricula as suggested by NEP 2020. The curriculum will focus more on giving students the option to choose elective subjects.

In addition, in line with NEP 2020, the option of Multiple Entry, Exit System and Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) was also announced, which includes 1-year certificate course, 2-year diploma and 3-year degree course. On plans to meet the demand for higher education in the state, Yadav said the government was working to increase seats in government colleges by 25 per cent.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan presided over the meeting and the steps to improve the quality of school education in the state were discussed.

To help the students who could not go to regular colleges, the government has planned to start 134 study centers in government colleges and 84 new study centers in Bhoj Open University. The proposal to open a private study center was also considered in the meeting.
