Lucknow/Mumbai: The UP government on Tuesday ordered that it will be mandatory to take an affidavit from the organizer before taking out any religious procession in the state. The order assumes significance in the wake of violence in Delhi during a religious procession last week.

“Before granting permission, an affidavit should be taken from the organizer regarding the maintenance of peace and harmony. Only those religious processions should be allowed, which are traditional and new ones should not be allowed,” he said.
Yogi directed officers ranging from Additional Director General to Station House Officer to open dialogue with religious leaders and eminent citizens in their respective areas in the next 24 hours to ensure peace during the upcoming festivals.
“Strictly deal with those making statements that disturb harmony and ensure that religious programs and worship are held at designated places and traffic movement is not obstructed,” the CM said.
During this, Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole On Monday, the Maha Vikas Aghadi asked the government to ban the rallies of those trying to create communal tension in the state.
