Gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed were shot dead by three men posing as journalists while interacting with media persons on Saturday night. Both the brothers were handcuffed at the time of murder yesterday and the visuals went viral on social media platforms.

1) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday ordered a high-level inquiry into the sensational murders of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Khalid Azim alias Ashraf in Prayagraj.
2) Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) have been issued in all districts of Uttar Pradesh to maintain law and order.
